Curtained Porches

by Laura Casey Interiors on June 19, 2013

Summer is in full swing here in Charlotte. Nothing says summer relaxation like a great porch, the perfect place to slow down a bit and enjoy time with friends and family. One of my favorite details to see on a porch is an outdoor curtain. They add a warmth and domesticity to an outdoor living area, not to mention extra protection from the sun. I would love to spend an afternoon in any of these shaded spots.

Treat your outdoor space as an extension of your home. Adding a rug or a light fixture can transform your porch into a stylish living area.

Color can be a great way to liven up an outdoor space…

While a neutral color palette lends itself to a more tranquil environment.

I love the height of these curtains and ceiling.

We hung curtains on a client’s back porch and tied them back with a rope knot. I really love how they turned out and plan to use this look again in the future.

Do you have a porch where you like to spend your summer days?

Always love that Domino porch (2nd image)…and the easy, breezy beauty of curtained porches + patios. Happy summertime!

Hi Laura…

I love curtained porches! I wish that when I was designing our back deck that I had thought about adding curtains. It’s such a great feeling – sort of like when we were kids underneath a tent that we made with sheets.

I have also been pressing my husband to let me enclose our bed with fabric – even if its just on the back wall and a bit surrounding the sides. He’s against it – but I love that cosseted feeling.

Thanks for posting!!

Linda
