Hardware Details

by Laura Casey Interiors on August 15, 2012

Several of our recent projects have involved selecting new door and cabinet hardware. Changing hardware is one of the easiest ways to update a space. There are so many great options that it can be difficult to choose. Here are a few of my favorite looks.

A traditional round knob will always be a classic. In brass here…

And nickel in this kitchen.

I’m a fan of more modern looks as well.

I love the juxtaposition of a more modern style in a brass finish.

There are so many great sources for hardware. Baldwin and Emtek are two of my favorites.

Nanz hardware is great looking and high quality.

Turnstyle in the UK makes unique pieces that are built to last.

I love Turnstyle products. I bought my bathroom accessories there. So well made. Good to see you are using them too in your projects. Makes me feel like a trend setter! LOL!

Joe is a an amazing architect and I could just hear him talking about his firm when I read the interview. He is a true believer in the power of design. Compromise is not what he is about. His work is always terrific. Getting this post I am so pleased. Thanks..

We just finished a project using Barz Hardware on all cabinets and Ashley Norton on the doors-beautiful lines!

Looks like you posted the Emtek Nashville entryset in a french antique finish. Nice choice! If you’re sticking with the American Classic collection, the round Providence knob would great choice for the interior door.

Laura,
I noticed in the picture of the white bathroom that the cup pulls were mounted in the panel of the drawers. This is wrong! Hardware should always be mounted on the drawer or door rails or stiles. In case some are not sure what I mean, the stile is the vertical member that frames the panel and the rail is horizontal member that frames the panel. The same terms are applicable to doors as well.
Architecturally or structurally speaking, the panels of drawers and doors are usually thin pieces of wood and are not meant to be used to support hardware.
It’s the architect in me speaking, but every time i see this it drives me nuts :) .

I just spent WAY too much time searching for the perfect hardware for our farmhouse kitchen. In the end, I didn’t choose anything spectacular or unique, but the quality is excellent. I ordered from House of Antique Hardware.

I really like the the nickel in the first kitchen, gives it that old world style that I love. Also the brass finish with the white is really nice, especially that old fashioned brass lamp over the sink.
