We had a great family trip to Chicago this past weekend, it’s one of my favorite cities. Chicago is defined by Lake Michigan and the stunning architecture, and I think the historical skyline set it apart from all others. We went on the architectural boat tour which I loved.
Our six year old is fascinate with the Sears Tower- maybe an architectural career ahead?
The details on the walls of the Civic Opera Building are stunning.
Historical elements are everywhere you turn…
I didn’t get to go into the Merchandise Mart, but will on a future trip.
An incredibly unique parking deck – Marina City by architect Bertrand Goldberg.
European architectural influences are everywhere!
I love the gorgeous details, very reminiscent of the flying buttresses at Notre Dame.
We got to visit with friends and family as well which all made for a great weekend!

I grew up in Chicago and while I love Charlotte, not a weekend goes by that I don’t wish I could be by the lake or go to the zoo or a museum. The greenway at Metropolitan often reminds me of Chicago . . . a micro Buckingham fountain!
Thanks for spotlighting Chicago!
