Kitchens with Oomph

by Laura Casey Interiors on February 28, 2012

I love when I see a kitchen and think, “that kitchen has oomph!”. This happens when there is something unique going on – color, materials, fixtures – you get the idea. Here are some kitchens that definitely have oomph.

Kazumi Yoshida designed this funky, contemporary space.

Between the floor tiles, cabinet color and red drum shades, there is plenty of impact in this kitchen.

A pretty, geometric backsplash carried up to the ceiling creates the ‘wow factor’ in this space.

I spotted this unique kitchen, designed by Jimmy Schonning, over at Splendid Willow.

It’s all in the tiles…

Steven Gambrel never ceases to amaze me…

I love the use of blues in this kitchen.

William Diamond & Anthony Baratta designed this happy, whimsical space.

I love oomph in a kitchen. I always think my kitchen has oomph when there is a dinner party.
My new kitchen has a lot of oomph and my old one did too. I think it is the tile, the art, the space and then sharing it with those we love.

Oh Laura, what incredible kitchens!! I am crazy for the one with the red drum shades – maybe I need those?!! I recently gave my kitchen oomph, finally, after whining about it for three years, and love it!

I also love the one with the geometric back splash all the way to the ceiling. That pattern with the rug on the floor and the white cabinets is very colorful yet soothing to me at the same time – kind of traditional with some spunk.

They are all stunning. Love the one from Splendid Willow and Steven Gambrel is one of my most favorite designers. Great post.

I love the first kitchen. There is no reason why kitchen needs to have the feel of an operating room and can not be a funky, contemporary space. I love to see books, fabrics, art, flowers and bright colors in the kitchen.

That second kitchen is one of my all time faves and definitely has perfect oomph! We are just about to move into a new house and I am searching for inspiration to give the kitchen some oomph so this was a helpful post for me!

Love the red drum shades in that 2nd kitchen!! What a great place to start your day for breakfast and then to enjoy later in the day with a glass of wine!!!

None is anywhere near as fabulous as the kitchen you did for us!

I’m not afraid to say that mine does…thanks to a fabulous French range called a Lacanche. I love it so much…more than diamonds! Posted about it here:
