Recently I spotted these amazing dark bookcases that interior designer Keith Irvine used in a home. The New York Times summarized Irvine’s design style nicely by saying “..easy way with traditional English style, which he always seasoned with a bit of French. Eclectic and spontaneous.” I love that description. It struck me how uncommon it is to see beautiful dark bookcases like this so I set off to find more of them. Irvine’s use of dark bookcases in this image embodies the traditional English country home for me.
Todd Klein’s built-ins featured in House Beautiful.
Simples lines and similar colors work nicely in this bookcase.
I love the textures and collected objects on these shelves.
Miles Redd for House Beautiful in a high gloss blue.
I love the height of these Alessandra Branca bookcases and the accents of red.
I like the accents of yellow in this dark wooden bookcase and the varying striped fabric on the chairs.
Do you love the look of dark bookcases?
