Colored Glass Chemistry

by Laura Casey Interiors on June 23, 2011

A few weeks ago I was sitting on the beach and noticed a beautiful piece of beach glass in the sand. The brightness of its color after years of being thrown around the sea was impressive. Colored glass is a simplistic way to add a burst of life into your home. This collection is like a piece of artwork.

A small collection of various shades of blue bottles lends a more vintage look.

These glass vases create a mixture of shapes and colors for  funky table arrangements.

I love how the life of this room is in the stained glass windows.

If you like stained glass windows, but feel reluctant to add in a stationary piece, a framed piece like this one is a great idea.

This home has blue vase throughout- which you know I love!

The unusual glass light fixture and small collection of various sized vases adds to the intense green palette used in this room

I think I am going to start keeping my eye out for more colored glass to buy….

with a follow up post in due time….

What a fabulous painting that first image would make. I’ve collected kugels (blown glass balls) all over Europe. I hang them either in a window or currently suspended from my contemporary track lighting in the kitchen over the island. The light really makes them a centerpiece. I was trying to emulate my favorite Swarovski light fixture the Cellula Chandelier.

I love hunting for sea glass when we’re on the coast of Maine…especially the turquoise pieces.

Happy summer to you!
