My Favorite Things: Cherry Blossoms

by Laura Casey Interiors on June 17, 2011

Although spring has passed here in Charlotte, spring always makes me think of cherry blossoms as they are one of my favorite things. In the past few weeks I have been thinking of them and more frequently noticing the pattern. I wondered if they originated in Japan, how did they become the tree of Washington DC? Interesting to find that the city of Tokyo gave the city of Washington DC 3,000 Cherry Blossom trees in 1912.

The interior decorating world has always taken beautiful natural patterns and integrated them into our homes. The delicate, intricate blossoms are known the world over for their beauty. This room uses a sophisticated light fixture based on the cherry blossom design and a wall decal to add visual interest to this gray room.

Me too! K’s room (then nursery) has a cherry blossom mural on the wall and it still looks relevant and fantastic.
Hope your week is great,
Amy

Thought of you last night when I was in Garden Ridge on Concord Blvd. They have some very nice throw pillows with cherry blossom fabric – very nicely done, not at all “garden ridgey”

We just moved out of Japan! My Husband was stationed there with the NAVY for 4 years-so we lived there-and during that time I fell in LOVE with Cherry blossoms. They have no scent, which is a shame for how pretty they are. I took a lot of things home from Japan-but my love for Sakura will forever be. I painted a mural on my dining room wall. Not sure how to show a picture, but I get A LOT of comments on it. Will definatly be finding time to visit Washington D.C. to see the trees in bloom. Its BEAUTIFUL!!
