on the farm

by Laura Casey Interiors on July 29, 2010

I must say, other than my mothers’ love of roosters, farm animals aren’t exactly on my radar when it comes to design. A week or two ago  I was looking at Jeffrey Bilhuber’s portfolio I noticed these big pigs.  So you know how once you notice something, it becomes more obvious to you? Farm animals continued to appear…

While clicking around online I came across this big cow in a Ginger Barber designed guest house,

and a rooster print from the 1900’s in a hallway.

Then I got a blog post into my inbox from one of my favorite new bloggers Divine Distractions with this design by Pamplemouse in it.

With the zebra wallpaper and bed coverings, I might prefer this bench with some different legs.

So here’s my list: Pigs, Cow, Turkey, Sheep, and Horse. What am I missing?

Maybe it’s a sign I need to revisit my Barns Post.

Pretty sure that it is a turkey, and not a rooster, that is in that 1900s print. :)

(What can I say, I grew up in the country!)

I love the cow one…and I’m a huge Ginger Barber fan.

The goat leg bench is “disturbing” though….and I’m sure it was an expensive piece!
And it looks like they have it either in the master or guest room…..everyone’s different, right?!

Thx for sharing…..have a great day….

I do love Cow pictures as well. Not a fan of the goat bench but the rest of the bedroom was divine.

I love the sheep! There’s something about sheep…….I am not wild about the legs on that bench in the bedroom either…..Maryanne xo

Great photos LC, but I think those are hippos… You can find great cow, sheep, maybe even HIPPO oils at Scott’s in Atlanta and probably up at Metrolina in Charlotte. KRF

I love barns and have a dream of living on a farm one day. Hopefully it will be as beautiful as the one in your last image!

Not my thing either…but I do appreciate good design that injects a bit of humor!

I think the first photo shows two large hippos, instead of pigs, but it is still a great example of how much fun you can have incorporating animals into design.

As a hobby/business, my room mate from OSU Shepherd’s several sheep. I sent your link to them and asked if they wanted to bring any of their sheep inside their fabulous old farmhouse! Love,

I found your blog through Splendidwillow.com and love it. I am just about to redue my kitchen and you have some great ideas.

Your barns post is one of my all-time favorites! I don’t have a country bone in my body, but your photos made my heart long for a drive across the country.

Do you have Wilber from Charlotte’s web? I have been seeing lots of barn-yard things too.

Old McDonald, eh?! :)
I love the 2nd photo – in fact I tore it out and have it filed away, as my husband’s family has a ranch…and “someday” I think it would really be fun to decorate.
