One of my favorite things to do is drive around in any town or city and look at the houses. This Old House has an online guide to the best old house neighborhoods in every state. Here are a few of my favorites…
They also have it broken down into many categories as well…(with more on the site)
Now I just need a few interior tours from the original architects. Happy Clicking.

Laura, I love this, but my eye keeps being drawn to the second image. Though the home appears long and narrow, it has so much charm!
Did you ever consider real estate as a career. I would want you as my realtor to show me around. You have such great categories! I want to do this now….

I love old houses. They have so many quirky details that make them unique. We live in an older home and I love everything about it except the multitude of repairs
Altering today’s plan to allow considerable time to explore This Old House! Another fabulous posting!
Yet another good resource too bookmark – from Laura’s corner! That mansion in the winter landscape is something to write home about… Happy weekend, dear! xx Mon
Thank you for the link. My hometown made the best neighborhoods pick for NC!
You want to know a secret? Norm, Tom, and Richard are my secret crushes!!! Can you image having a great old house for these 3 brilliant and talented trio to work on=bliss! I have been a subscriber to TOH magazine for quite awhile and of course, addicted to the show when it’s available. My husband and I too love to drive around looking at old homes and fantasize about living in an old house one day. Living in Williamsburg, Va. along the York River for 4 short years only made the desire greater. Did not realize TOH had this real estate info. so thanks!
i love old houses as well. i love all the charm. they all seem to be built with such attention to detail, and concern with correct proportions. i love driving through old neighborhoods and imagining the floor plans and picturing myself living there!
Oh,hello fellow house stalker! What a great group of house photos – I especially love the one built of old field stone with the wonderful windows and peaked roof lines – maybe EnglishTudor – am I showing my ignorance? Anyway, they are lovely and I so appreciate your sharing this source for old houses. Wouldn’t it be fun to travel all over and just have TIME to drive by houses for days on end!
Thanks for the link! I love vintage homes and their character matter what the style. This will be a great way to spend tomorrow morning with a cup of coffee..Thanks, Laura, always a pleasure. Maryanne:)

Ohhh what beautiful homes you have found! Gorgeous!
I love to ride around New Orleans looking at the architecture!!! And whenever I go on trips, I take as many pictures of buildings as I do the people I’m with. I think it’s an addiction, one which I’m happy to share with you. Love your eye!
I love this! Thanks for sharing!!
Wonderful to have this fabulous blog originating from my own hometown. I so enjoy your blogs and am jealous of your career — what I wouldn’t give to work for VIctoria Hagen. And i get such inspiration from your posts for my space @ Post & Gray. I’ve given you the Sunshine Award — pop over to HollyGoesLightly when you get a free moment to claim your award and spread the warmth!

I could do so many things with those homes!
I so agree – it’s a wonderful way to spend a couple of lazy hours just “oozing” around looking at other peoples’ beautiful houses! Leigh
