I have been working hard this week on taking a kitchen from conceptual ideas and sketches into construction drawings of floor plans and elevations.
I have also been thinking about how great looking copper pots are.
I cook with Le Creuset and usually iron skillets so from a functional perspective I can’t comment, but I have heard great things about them. They are so darn good looking!
I got a copy of Julie and Julia (which I love) in my stocking, and they were Julia Childs choice.
My little guys would love to just bang on any of these.
What do you cook with? Thoughts on copper pots? Have a great weekend & stay warm!

I love the hanging copper pans! It looks like there are a lot more creative storage options with those than the heavy Le Cruseut that we use…although I loooove my hunter green Le Cruseut!
Good morning,
I also use Le Creuset, but when making soup I use a large copper soup pot with a cute acorn finial on top. It just seems to make the soup look and taste better. I love the hanging copper pots, but they might get dusty if you don’t use them often enough. Oh who cares, they make a kitchen look fantastic!

I love copper pots! I use Calphalon. I have just heard they are very hard to keep clean, if you are really using them for cooking! They exude such warmth and charm!
Copper pots are gorgeous!! But also a luxury for a reason. They’re brilliant heat conductors but also heavy and require polishing. In my multi-tasking mom world I go for quality + low maintenance as much as possible so I swear by my All Clad which distributes heat perfectly and is a breeze to clean + my Le Crueset Dutch Oven which loves on my stove top + cast iron skillets which belonged to my husband’s grandmother. My few copper pieces I use for serving — is that cheating?
I love your posts–almost as much for their humor as the content.
I don’t have any copper pots but they sure are pretty. They exude an english country house kitchen vibe. I do know a thing or two about pot banging!
I too love Le Crueset – and have one copper pot for sauces. I adore a cast iron skillet from my grandmother.
No toy beats a simple pot to bang – never met a child who did not have a roaring pot banging phase.

The first image is beautiful! Love all the red accents with the crisp white and and warm brown. Re: copper pans, I think it all depends on the style of the ktichen. They would look out of place in my kitchen were they would compete with a lot of stainless. And in a more rustic kitchen – I would use them more for ambiance (and banging!) because I am personally too lazy to take care of them. But beautiful they are! Happy weekend friens! Monika
I love the look of copper pots and pans. My mom has them in her kitchen (not hanging, but above a cabinet). They look great with copper pendant lights.
Have a great weekend!

It’s caphlon for me, but I do love the look of the copper.
Painting the peg board aqua or any color surely does make a better background!

I just saved that second photo to my iPhoto collection of “kitchen images I love” a few days ago, but I can’t remember where I found it. So funny – what a great post. I love copper pots but only have one that I use. I love that first image – it looks like a fun room where real people live!
I too, am a fan of All Clad. Copper is the best conductor of heat which is why professional chefs prefer them. They require maintenence, but I have been told you can clean them with toothpaste! I’d say buy one and test drive it for awhile and then add on. Good luck on your project!!!
I am copper pots all the way. Love. Them. I own (and daily use) mostly All-Clad copper, along with miscellaneous pots I have found on sale at my local Home Goods store. They are terrific heat conductors, and are very, very sensitive to changes in heat (cool down nicely, and quickly, especially as opposed to cast iron, which I also incidentally love!) they do lose their perfect coppery shine quickly, but I have discovered I don’t care. I don’t baby these pots, I don’t polish them every week, and I use them every day. I think the ‘tarnished’ copper look is lovely, too. In fact, mine look exactly like the pots in your first photo (not the second!)…
GREAT blog. This is my first comment. Thank you for what is obviously a lot of passion and hard work – keep it up!
I have a set of copper pots but never dared to use them, I am sure they are the best for certain recipes.
We also have Le Cruseut but I must say I’ve always wanted copper but have been put off by the maintenance. They certainly look wonderful and are fabulous addition to a country kitchen. Leigh
I have a combination of materials because of their properties but also of the chemical reactions of certain materials to citrus and even water water additives… good luck in your design!
Copper pots are stunning, but unfortunately, my present pots and pans are not so pretty. They stay in the cupboard. LOL Have a great week, Laura!
