Every week other bloggers and I post pictures of gorgeous bedrooms and we discuss every little detail down to the trim. In the grand scheme of things just having a safe place to sleep is so much more important. Paloma Contreras of La Dolce Vita has asked many bloggers to come together today to help raise money for a wonderful 501(c)(3) organization and one of their projects. The money that is raised through this blogger initiative will build dormitories and a library just for girls who are otherwise sleeping in hutsPencils of Promise is based in New York and they partner with local  communities and organizations to build schools in developing nations for some of the world’s most impoverished and undereducated children.  It is hard to imagine spending each day away from your family just to receive a high school education at the only secondary school in the area.

Adam Braun, the creator of Pencils of Promise, writes

“Earlier this week I was in Champhet, Laos where I witnessed more than 200 high school girls living in dangerous bamboo huts they built themselves to attend the district’s only high school. Those that are brave enough to walk several hours from their village have lived in these tiny huts for 3-4 years just to receive an advanced education. There is a massive risk of wind fires, disease, and sexual abuse without any adult supervision. Many parents will not even allow their daughters to attend the school because there is no safe housing alternative.

We are going to build a sustainable dormitory & library for these 200 girls. 100% of your donated dollars will go towards the project. Please help make this a reality.”

In the spirit of the holiday season, I am asking for you to make a donation towards this project. Just think of the enormous impact we could have if each person who reads this post donates just $5.00. Just my blog alone could do so much for these girls. We are in the midst of the giving season and I hope that you will please take the time to make a donationby clicking HERE to this worthy cause today.

Thanks for directing me to a worthwhile cause. It is such a good feeling knowing 100% of our donation goes directly to these girls. I will pass ” Pencils of Promise” on to family and friends.

From small beginnings, larger blessings flow. May God always bless you and your friends for doing this.

Laura, this is wonderful!! Donating what we can is such a god feeling even if it is time. Consider serving at a local food kitchen on Christmas Day if you celebrate the night before on XMAS Eve.
