Going Green

by laura on October 7, 2009

Even though I usually associate the color green with spring, I should have given it a little coverage in my happiness of fall’s arrival.  Without it the leaves wouldn’t get to those beautiful colors they become. My husband told me a few days ago that he noticed I was making a strong effort with the recycling so in little doses I am trying to do my part.

What’s my favorite “green” blog? Pink to Greenhas lots of great ideas on how to fashionably “go green”.

Do you love to use or wear green? Let me know in what ways you do your part.

Good for you! Yes, I do – I just finished bringing down the recycling! We have a large bag for our “Community Care Program” and I try to teach my children to take care of the environment. I also know of a gal who does this for a business, helping and teaching others the value of being green.
I love the color green and how it can lift one’s spirits like the first bloom of Spring.
Did you know the color green has the most hues! Dark hunter green, chartreuse, pine green, sage green, lime green, kelly green….and the list goes on….

I decided to “live small” when I bought my condo. I thought about upgrading to a larger unit, but I decided that living in a space that was adequate and not as luxurious would mean that I wouldn’t consume as many resources. Maybe it’s a silly thought, but when I think about how it would be nice to have dedicated rooms for guests, office, and other things, I console myself with the thought that I’m using less (and also spending less) because of this choice.

One side benefit of living small is that I can live in the city, which means I can walk to work and shopping (or take public transit) and leave the car parked. I don’t depend on my car, though I drive it about once per week to run errands. :)

I have some green accents, it is not a big color for me, I love to see it in design and accessories. Especially the brights in the spring and Summer. The dark hunter and mossy tones for fall & winter.

There has been a lot going on about “going green,” we love Pink-to-Green! The images you pulled were great, my favorite is the one with the green nailhead tray. Thanks for a great post!

Green is my favorite color, but I don’t really see it as the main color in interiors very often. So I this is great! And as for going green, I am really trying to focus on seasonal, regional food, which decreases our carbon footprint from decreased fuel used in transport. Thanks for the great post!

I love green and have quite a few accessories in my house that are green! Also, even though a lot of the world is loving the fall leaves at this time, I was just noticing yesterday how my yard and flower beds are finally green after some much needed rain in Texas!!

As far as going green, I recycle soda cans, newspaper, magazines (not design ones!) catalogs, and cardboard. It is quite a job to keep up with but makes me feel like I am helping the cause a little bit!

Laura! What a treat, thank you so much for sharing Pink to Green with your readers! Making an effort to “go green”, in my opinion, is about the little things. Its not about doing everything, its about doing something. Being concious of making an effort is the first step! As always, I’m loving the images you’ve pulled together for thist post!

To be honest, we recycle but that is about it. My car is filled with re-usable bags, but I frequently forget to bring them into the grocery store.

I LOVE the color green. I just painted my dining room, Farrow and Ball’s Green Ground.

Finding small ways not to be wasteful. Taking the paper carrier tray back to Starbucks each day instead of getting a new tray.

Love the intensity of the greens you used Laura.

check out the virtual tour at the Mt Vernon website (George Washington’s home). There is an all-green dining room, 1st floor . It’s beautiful.

Really enjoyed these – I’m such a fan of green. Green and white, particularly. I just bought an entire 5 piece desk set in a geometric green and white pattern. It makes me so happy! Kelly Green is my favorite shade, but I’ll take Wearstler’s Imperial Trellis pattern in any shade it comes in.
