Christina Dowdy is a Charlotte based artist with tremendous talent who “celebrates color and form without clutter”, maybe this is why I am so drawn to her work. She works largely on commission pieces . Her clients come to her with vacation photos, ideas for still lifes, their children on the beach, whatever they want her to paint.

She is drawn to simpler compositions and uses old techniques of layering and glazing to build up vibrant color on the canvas.

Recently she has been expanding her work into portraits. Her work is very well priced, and for a 16″ x 20″ portrait the cost generally runs about $400.

I recently spent some time with her in her light filled studio. She works from her home and choses to represent herself. Her work is available in a range of sizes.

Love your blog and work! Found it through a comment you left on Urban Grace. I’m an interior designer too! I’ve mainly worked in commercial, but am thinking of trying to get into residential on my own:)
