Palladian windows have been a favorite architectural element for a centuries.

The arch is attributed to the Romans, but Palladio took the use of it to another level. Architects have long been interpreting it and incorporating the arched window into a series or interiors archways. Peter Pennoyer’s interior architectural elements are modern with a classical reference and stunning.

I think a rounded arch as a gateway to the outdoors is beautiful.

Palladian Blue is a color that is shade often referred to as a favorite and is the wall color in Peter Dunham’s LA store. Thanks for the tip Style Court!

Nowadays many stores are quick to pick up on the classic reference to Palladio. Restoration Hardware has a Palladian Lamp

and Matouk has a line of linens called Palladio.

Isn’t it “everything that is old is new again”.

Palladianism proved to be just the right rebel against all things Baroque.
Can you imagine living in a highly ornate time and then walking into a space with open arches and palladian windows….heavenly. They verge on minimal, but are soft and curvy.
Great post Laura. The windows and arches you referenced are stunning.
Thank you for this beautiful post. Simple and exquisite.
Quite informative. Our new home has an arched doorway and I love its charm and simplicity.
I love Palladian inspired design, Laura. Great post!
Exquisite post!
I love these Palladian influences…gorgeous shots, xv.
We have rescued 3 palladian style windows from an old mansion that would have been destroyed. Can’t wait to use them in the remodel. Thanks for the inspiring pictures.
Palladian so classic. Peter Pennoyers interiors are stunning and I love the wall color of his LA store. The crystal Palladian Lamp is so beautiful and has been on my list to have a pair for a long time. This one looks like it is not french wired. And of course the classic linen so crisp and clean.
Great post! I like how you strung all the Palladian elements together. I am a huge fan of Peter Pennoyer, and the interior images of the arched bookcases are simply stunning….and who doesn’t love Peter Dunham!? Considering which room in my home must be painted Palladian blue. Thanks for posting.
