Last week my dad gave me a copy of the magazine called The English Home. What I always enjoy about an English country home is that nothing matches too perfectly, it almost seems accidently beautiful. The English country look would not be complete without a loose floral pattern whether on a chair or a dishtowel.

The cupboard and farmhouse table seem genuine and possibly passed through a family.

An overflowing garden,

a spot of tea,

an child’s old wooden bed,

the English countryside,

a comfortable chair with a vintage radio,

and of course some floral fabric in the bedroom all bring together the English country house look.

I am a big tennis fan and in the spirit of the English country house, I will watching the Wimbledon finals this weekend.

The English really know how to create a feeling of casual elegance.
I subscribe to several British magazines, including this one. They are my guilty pleasure.
Don’t you just love those gardens?!

Beautiful images, that look of cozy comfort!
In 1997, my husband and I spent a month in England, and toured much of the country with my husband’s grandparents. We mainly stayed in English country house hotels, many of which had the typical charming look in these pictures. What a trip that was – perhaps my favorite trip ever!
Very cozy – the English style always looks completely prepared for any rainy days.
What beautiful pictures you have found-thanks Laura!
The thing I love most is that behind all the chintz, the flowers, the tea is the dry wit of the english- pve
I am a total Anglophile and will be watching Wimbledon with my strawberries and cream this weekend. Only sad that Nadal isn’t playing. Have a great weekend.
Hi Laura, I too love English country interiors. Their charm, warmth and humility always draw me in. The juxtaposition of the AGA “Cooker” in that simple and humble kitchen (a combination seen over and over in English design) always get me. The exterior of the cottage with the scalloped thatched roof is quintesencial isn’t it! The florals throughout are lovely.
Have a wonderful 4th of July!

I enjoy your marvelous combinations of colors in all you accomplish. The Ann Hathway house looks like it belongs in Stratford on Avon! Excellent designs!
