Le Corbusier

Le Corbusier, the Swiss architect and founder of International Style, wore many hats throughout his career. I have always been a fan of his work as I have a soft spot for modern architecture. The Villa Savoye (Poissy, France 1929) is one of his most famous houses and one of my favorites.

His very famous and recognizable LC3 Armchair (1929).

His work as an artist, echoing Picasso.

kt.COLOR, the Swiss paint company, has recently brought Le Corbusier’s color collection to fruition with 106 interior colors. Le Corbusier had a profound appreciation for color and the new collection includes sixty-three pigment based hues that were originally created for the LC 32 and LC 43 paint series. What gorgeous colors….The paints are available through Aronson’s Floor Covering in NYC.

Across the pond Le Corbusier continues to be a favorite. The Barbican Gallery in London is featuring an exhibit Le Corbusier- The Art of Architecture through May 24, 2009. The RIBA (The Royal Institute of British Architecture) is showcasing a model of Le Corbusier’s tiny summer home. 172 square feet that supposedly took him thirty minutes to design. The ultimate in modern living and simplicity.

Is it me or does it remind you too of a familiar house?

Okay, I need to get back to work. I would really just like to lounge around on the LC4today.

I will write a follow up when I try the paints. Anyone else a LC fan?

I love all these pieces! I’m dying for an apartment with the gold/ochre walls you showed a while back with all LC furniture. Thank you for all your inspiration. Just dreaming of beauty makes my day!
