Soothing…In the Pink?

by laura on March 16, 2009

Every Sunday morning I look forward to reading New York Times. Yesterday I was reading the Styles Section and came across the title “In the (New) Pink”. Ellen Tien wrote “In times of trouble, pink is the shopper’s comfort color, and now is no exception”.  I like the color pink, but is this really what shoppers are looking for? and is pink the soothing color? Possibly it is, color therapists might say so. Does that translate to interiors? Take a look and let me know what you think. While we know I love the color combo Pink & Orange here are a few other looks with pink.

This room I find to be soothing because of the pale colors, lack of clutter, and almost bare walls.

Betsy Johnson’s Apartment was recently featured in Elle Decor UK.

Funky is probably a better word to use than calming for this one.

I love the Artichoke Lamp and  the exposed pipe.

One of my favorite design books is In The Pink- Dorothy Draper by Carleton Varney.

I have to say though after writing this post and looking at all of these pink images I certainly am calm.

Maybe I’ll throw on a pink shirt today, sounds like a good way to start out a busy Monday.

What a great blog you have! So glad to have found you via Urban Grace. I loved her story of your early days in NYC and your friendship. My daughter is at Vanderbilt now and I imagine her living like you two did in the not so far off future! Great post on pink!!

I definitely think we could all use a bit of pink in our lives these days.
Betsey Johnson’s apartment is surprisingly calm and peaceful. I think it is my favorite.

Lovely post.

Not a big fan of pink. I can take a little bit, but there’s something unsettling about a LOT of pink. I say this as I’m wearing a pink shirt… maybe I need to reconsider!
