spring is in the air…(i hope)

This beauty is right outside my front door… I am ready for spring to arrive. Don’t be deceived by the rose though, it was 26 degrees here yesterday morning. I don’t make annual resolutions, but my spring “project” is to work outside more.  My green thumb attempt began last spring after almost a decade of NYC apartment living.

I love the look of an outdoor trellis. Either on the side of the house

or in the garden

Martha Stewart suggests putting up a foldaway trellis if you need to be able to get behind it to clean or paint your house.

I love this garden as it is organized and thoughtful, yet not fussy. What a great old renovated barn behind it.

I love the color of it and the windows! If I had a garden like this to work with I might spend all day out there and let my little boys just run around.

If you have a walk through that has flower beds on the sides hanging baskets are a way to incorporate more flowers.

Wave Petunias, Trailing Scandent Begonias and Cardinal Flowers all work well.

If you need some help with creating hanging baskets click here- Hanging Baskets.

Phlox is going in the back of my front garden this year. They are a good filler as they tolerate direct sunlight well and they last for a long time.

For the girly gardener chanelling her inner Elle Woods these are available on Amazon.

OOOH lah lah! I love it! I trimmed some winter-dead off some plants today on my lunch break… I can’t wait for spring!
