Tucker Robbins is a “buddhist turned world traveller turned furniture maker” and the founding member of the Sustainable Furniture Council. He is “passionate about cooperation among global cultures” and he sounds like a very interesting person. All of his pieces come from salvaged, recycled and sustainably harvested materials. I emailed his office at the LIC warehouse and asked about getting a wood sample for the waterfall table. They couldn’t have been nicer and put one in the mail right away. Let me just say that it feels wonderful. Like real, beautiful old wood that has a past.
His client roster is extremely impressive, and his work has been seen in magazines such as Metropolitan Home, Architectural Digest, Domino, Elle Decor & New York Spaces. He does custom work as well- a beautiful table.
His studio is in Long Island City but he is in the process of building a green campus in Virginia.
Wind turbines, cork floorings, solar panels- he is doing more than his part.
I feel that it is important to support designers and artists like him. My hats off to Tucker.

Hi Laura, great post! Very interesting as you know, I love Rothko’s works of art. The rugs are wonderful. I visited Tucker’s site as well. So much talent and influence from recent artist’s that continues their legend. If only Rothko knew, could have see the future and all of his admirerers.
