Small Changes, Big Change

by laura on January 12, 2009

I recently made a few changes to a master bedroom. This is a before shot.

and after…

Our starting point was bringing in the color orange. Getting rid of the heavy blue curtain panels and blue rug made a big difference, and the room instantly lightened. The color of the walls was made to match the neutral ground in the curtain. Bamboo shades with blackout liner still do the job of blocking out the light, but when fully raised the room has much more natural daylight. The headboard is at its proper height and the bedspread is from Restoration Hardware. The curtain fabric is Vervain Trocodero in color Pumpkin and the rug is from Stark Carpet.

So… I guess I’m a day late on the Michael Smith post… I should have known Style Court, and you my dear… were all over it. I’m a little behind in my blog reading… but wanted to tell you- YOUR BEDROOM make-over is FANTASTIC! I have used that Vervain in green and loved it- but have not seen the orange… Laura, it’s BEAUTIFUL! I love orange… it’s fun, yet classy, and very inviting! Great work my friend!

Love this room — question — where did you get the bamboo shades? I’m in need of just this in my own bedroom!

This is lovely. What a great change! May i ask where the dust ruffle comes from. It’s so nice and simple. I am looking for one in this style that works on a platform bed.
